It has been only 12 days since the premier of the superhero movie The Avengers and yet it has already bested all the other movies that were ever shown in the country. This was according to the latest figures released in the website Box Office Mojo.
The Avengers has now grossed $11,664,071 or roughly P487.5 million since its opening day in April 25. $2,839,565 or P118 million of this gross only accounted for the weekend of May 2-6. With this, it has outranked the former record holder Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon which grossed only $9,770,818 or around P411.8 million when it was released last year.
According to the Walt Disney Studios Pictures Philippines, The Avengers is now the record-holder for the highest opening weekend, overtaking Spider-Man 3 which opened with P236 million over six days in 2007.
