Mayor Lim suspends classes in 8 schools in Manila January 9, 2012


Monday, January 9, 2012, will be the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene. Due to the heavy traffic that the procession will cause, schools which are expected to be affected will have no classes on Monday.

Here is the list of the schools that will be suspended, according the statement issued by Ricardo de Guzman, city chief of staff and media bureau head:

  • City College of Manila
  • Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
  • Manila Science High School
  • Araullo High School
  • Manila High School
  • Apolinario Mabini Elementary  School
  • Ramon Avanceña High School
  • Geronimo Santiago High School

As to the private schools located near or within Quiapo, Mayor Lim said that it will be up to their administration to suspend their classes on Monday.

He, however, said that he had directed city officials to inform the Department of Education of the difficulties that the students will possibly face on January 9.
