Monday night, June 4, two Chinese businessmen were kidnapped by 6-7 unidentified gunmen in the town of Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The two victims were identified as Jampong Lin and James Lou. The armed men forced themselves inside the rented home of the two Chinese and abducted them, as reported by the Mayor of Kabasalan, George Cainglet. with guns pointed at them, both victims were dragged out of their house to a van, which was the vehicle used by the kidnappers to take the victims away.
Hours later the van was found abandoned and torched in a neighboring village. The Mayor reported that there were unconfirmed reports that the victims were boarded on a pumpboat and transported to Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The victims were already settled in the town for more than a year. They have secured a business permit to buy and sell minerals such as copper and manganese.
As of now there has been no group that takes responsibility for abducting the Chinese nationals, however the soldiers and the police already launched a search and rescue operation for the two kidnap victims.
